The tap is a tool for processing various medium and small size internal threads. It has a simple structure and is easy to use. It can be operated manually or on a machine tool.
Socket taps are taps with internal threads for wire thread inserts, also called ST taps, threaded taps, which are classified into straight flute taps, spiral flute taps, and extrusion taps according to the shape and the way of forming threads.
Marking method of taps: STd × p ST is the code of internal thread dedicated for wire thread inserts.
Marking example: the special tap used for processing and installing the thread of the bottom hole of the wire thread insert on the light alloy with the specification of 8 × 1.25, marked as ST8 × 1.25
